Registration at Guest Relations

Our Rewards Programme is managed directly at the Guest Relations Desk near the main casino entrance. To register, bring a valid South African ID - in line with FICA requirements we check and confirm every document before we issue a Smart Card.

The enrolment itself is quick. Our team captures your details, you pay a R30 deposit, and your Smart Card is issued on the spot, ready for play. That R30 remains your money at all times, not a fee. You can cash it back through the Cash Desk or at the payout machines positioned around the gaming floor.

Once your profile is created, your Rewards account is recognised at all Tsogo Sun properties. From your first spin or hand, points start tracking automatically, whether you are at the slots or seated at a table. All 507 slot machines and 17 tables report into the same Rewards account, so nothing gets lost.

Funding Your Smart Card

To play, the card must carry a balance. Any slot machine fitted with a bill validator can load funds. Insert your card, feed Rand notes into the note acceptor, and watch your updated balance on the screen. No extra forms, no extra queues.

That balance moves with you across the floor. You can play in the main non-smoking area, in the smoking casino, or in Salon Privé without reloading each time. Slot denominations start at R0.01 a spin and go up to R25. Video poker generally runs between R2 and R10, while reel slots usually range from R5 to R25, so you choose what fits your play style and budget.

At the tables you simply present your Smart Card to the dealer or the pit supervisor. We rate your play based on average bet and time at the table. As a reference, minimum bets usually sit around R25 for Roulette and from R50 for Blackjack and Poker. How Points and Tiers Work

You can view your status at any Smart Card Machine without speaking to staff. The display shows three key figures: your cash balance, your Rewards points, and any promotional credits from current campaigns. Balances update in real time while you play.

There are two straightforward ways to redeem. You can let the machine print a voucher and take it to the Cash Desk, or you can go directly to the desk for larger redemptions. Over time we have paid out R4.2 million in instant rewards through random draws and gameplay triggers. Active promotions rotate regularly and are always advertised clearly on digital screens and notice areas on the floor.

Gaming Hours and Floor Layout

Our slot floor operates around the clock, 24 hours a day, across three distinct areas. The main floor is non-smoking and houses most of the 507 machines. The smoking casino provides a separated environment for guests who prefer it. Salon Privé focuses on higher denominations, with reel machines typically from R5 to R25 and a more private layout.

Table games follow set operating hours. From Monday to Thursday, tables run from 6pm until 1am. On Friday and Saturday we open at noon and close at 3am, and on Sundays we trade from noon to 1am. American Roulette, Blackjack and Poker are the core offers, with minimums from R25 to R50 depending on the specific game and format.

Big Bang Blackjack and selected Poker variations include progressive side bets linking several tables together. Our dealers are trained to walk you through these options at the table, so if anything about side wagers feels unclear, just ask.

Account Management

We structure account management so that you can handle most tasks yourself. Smart Card Machines provide access to your totals, tier level, last transactions and live offers. Three balances are visible: loaded cash, earned points, and active promo credits. Cash converts back into Rand notes at the Cash Desk, while points are exchanged for Rewards benefits listed on our programme rules.

Security sits primarily on your Smart Card. At Guest Relations you may request a PIN for extra protection on your account. If you misplace or lose your card, speak to us immediately so that we can block it and help protect the funds and points associated with your profile.

Guests under 18 are not allowed to register or enter gaming areas. We verify age during the ID check at sign up. Families can still use the non-gaming parts of the complex, including the mall, restaurants, cinema and arcade.

The Bigger Complex

Hemingways Casino forms part of a broader leisure destination that includes Southern Sun Hemingways Hotel, Hemingways Mall and family recreation facilities. Hotel guests may complete Rewards registration as part of check-in, which usually speeds things up. The hotel offers 70 rooms, including Executive Suites, a Presidential Suite and a room configured for handicapped accessibility.

Both on-site restaurants participate in the Rewards Programme. Cuban Coffee Shop is well suited to lighter meals and snacks, while Emzini Restaurant focuses on African cuisine. In line with standard hospitality practice, Rewards discounts apply to the food portion before tax and gratuity.

Hemingways Mall connects through internal walkways and features over 160 retail stores. The cinema complex hosts the largest screen in the Eastern Cape with both 2D and 3D options. At Magic Company arcade, selected Rewards points can be converted to game credits.

Tsogo Sun Network Access

Your Hemingways Rewards account is part of the national Tsogo Sun Gaming network. Once you are signed up, the same card and tier work at all 15 Tsogo Sun properties across South Africa. Balances and tier movements are synchronised centrally, so you can check or redeem points at any participating property without creating a separate profile.

Cashing Out

Our Smart Card system is designed for straightforward cashouts. Balances are displayed in real time, and you are free to stop whenever you like. Insert your card into any Smart Card Machine, use the cashout function, choose whether you want the full amount or only part of it, and take the printed voucher. Present that voucher at the Cash Desk and receive your Rand notes.

The Cash Desk operates for the full duration of gaming hours and is staffed by multiple tellers. Larger withdrawals may require a quick supervisor sign-off, which is standard security procedure in the industry. Each transaction generates a receipt so that you always have a record of movements on your account.
